The mixed logit model is one of the most widely used models in the analysis of discrete choice. Observed behavior is described by a random choice function, which associates with each choice set a probability measure over the choice set. I obtain several necessary and sufficient conditions under which a random choice function becomes a mixed logit function. One condition is easy to interpret and another condition is easy to test.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.302585092994046,"endowment":2.302585092994046,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"21097893","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2998360796","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NSF","grant_id":"SES-1558757","title":null}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2017,"count":1},{"year":2018,"count":1},{"year":2020,"count":1},{"year":2021,"count":2},{"year":2022,"count":2},{"year":2025,"count":2}],"oa_status":"green","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://resolver.caltech.edu/CaltechAUTHORS:20191018-102413328","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://authors.library.caltech.edu/81475/1/sswp1433.pdf","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://authors.library.caltech.edu/99361/","host_type":""},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.7907/0vm8e-qys12","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Economic and Environmental Valuation"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Random utility, random choice, mixed logit, random coefficients","Mixed logit","Logit","Discrete choice","Logistic regression","Mathematics","Function (biology)","Econometrics","Choice set","Measure (data warehouse)","Statistics","Computer science","Data mining"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-18T17:27:08.047328Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
