The debates and issues that led to the partition continue to create tensions between the communities. The chapter opens by examining the territorial disputes that emerged due to the partition of British India. While some of the territorial issues have been resolved, Jammu and Kashmir remain a bone of contention between India and Pakistan. The chapter also addresses the citizenship debates that surfaced in India following partition. Finally, the chapter analyses the political positions and social status of the minorities in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.6931471805599453,"endowment":0.6931471805599453,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"23304386","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W4388411807","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":4.1751,"citation_percentile":0.94321582,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2026,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.manchesterhive.com/view/9781526170323/9781526170323.00019.xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.7765/9781526170323.00019/xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://www.manchesterhive.com/view/9781526170323/9781526170323.xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://www.degruyter.com/document/doi/10.7765/9781526170323.00019/pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/10.7765/9781526170323.00019","host_type":"ebook platform"}],"fields_of_study":["South Asian Studies and Conflicts","South Asian Studies and Diaspora","Politics and Conflicts in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Middle East"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Partition (number theory)","Politics","Citizenship","Political science","Geography","Law","Mathematics"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Reduced inequalities"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-28T12:56:06.476573Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
