Hasselmo","orcid":"0000-0002-9925-6377","position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"resolved":true,"title":"Neural Dynamics of Episodic Memory","abstract":"This chapter describes the structure and nature of the neural processes involved in the formation of episodic memory, and uses the example of an orchestra to introduce the structure and evolving nature of the entorhinal cortex region of the brain, which plays a key role in the formation of episodic memory. Available data suggest that the frequency of changes occurring within the entorhinal cortex can give rise to a key component of mechanisms needed for the encoding of memory. The chapter finds that these frequencies have a proper arrangement similar to the position of stringed instruments with different sounds within an orchestra.
