In this study, the hypothesis was that the simultaneous use of affected and unaffected upper limbs would increase the grip strength of affected upper limb effectively. 20 stroke patients participated in this study. They conducted grip strength test in affected upper limb-single, unaffected upper limb-single, and bilateral upper limbs-simultaneous conditions, 2 times per each condition. To analyze the difference in grip strength by upper limb condition and performance type, two-way ANOVA analysis with repeated measurement of the last two factors was used. As a result of analysis, for affected upper limb, the grip strength in simultaneous condition was significantly higher than that of single condition. Whereas, for unaffected upper limb, the grip strength in simultaneous condition was lower than that of single condition significantly. This result suggests that it is more effective to use bilateral activities of the upper limb than unilateral activity of the upper limb as a physical intervention to facilitate affected limb`s function in patients with stroke.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"21097893","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W3042910392","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.0,"citation_percentile":0.47055985,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.51979/kssls.2010.08.41.829","host_type":"journal"}],"fields_of_study":["Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery","Healthcare and Venom Research"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Upper limb","Grip strength","Lower limb","Medicine","Stroke (engine)","Physical medicine and rehabilitation","Repeated measures design","Physical therapy","Surgery","Mathematics"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-18T18:51:58.598079Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
