We conducted structural equation modeling using a cross-lagged effect model and a synchronous effect model. Results revealed that the Paradoxical Effect subscale score synchronously increased the frequency of intrusive thoughts. On the other hand, the frequency of intrusive thoughts did not affect the degree of confidence in meta-cognitive beliefs. These results demonstrate a causal relationship between meta-cognitive beliefs about thought suppression and intrusive thoughts. The cognitive processes underlying this causal relationship and future directions of research about thought suppression are discussed.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"26012266","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2319738066","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.0,"citation_percentile":0.15301225,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"gold","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jjpsy/86/1/86_86.14301/_pdf","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jjpsy/86/1/86_86.14301/_pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.4992/jjpsy.86.14301","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26012266","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Anxiety, Depression, Psychometrics, Treatment, Cognitive Processes","Obsessive-Compulsive Spectrum Disorders","Psychosomatic Disorders and Their Treatments"],"mesh_terms":["Cognition","Culture","Female","Humans","Male","Thinking","Young Adult"],"keywords":["Psychology","Cognition","Structural equation modeling","Meta-analysis","Affect (linguistics)","Thought suppression","Causal model","Cognitive psychology","Developmental psychology","Neuroscience"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Reduced inequalities"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-05T15:25:31.205507Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
