Identifying the strengths and weaknesses of top-ranked medical colleges is crucial for strategic planning and resource allocation. This study analyzed the NIRF 2024 rankings to pinpoint areas of excellence and deficiency in these institutions.</jats:p>\n          </jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Methods:</jats:title>\n            <jats:p>This cross-sectional study utilized data from the NIRF 2024 rankings of medical colleges. Data from the top 50 medical colleges are available in the public domain. Their overall score of teaching, learning, and resource (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcome (GO), outreach and inclusivity, and perception (PR) were calculated. Correlation coefficients were calculated to explore the relationship between overall rankings and individual domain scores.</jats:p>\n          </jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Results:</jats:title>\n            <jats:p>From 182 registered institutions, the NIRF ranking provides the top 50 institutions. The highest score was for TLR (80.21 ± 6.04) and a similar score for GO (79.37 ± 8.02). The lowest score was for PR (33.41 ± 19.73) and RP also had an identical score (36.46 ± 17.9), F (4, 245) =150.2, <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">P</jats:italic> < 0.0001, <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">r</jats:italic>\n                                 <jats:sup>2</jats:sup> = 0.71. There was a positive correlation between the rank and all domain scores. The highest level of correlation was the RP score (<jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">r</jats:italic> = 0.809, <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">P</jats:italic> < 0.0001) followed by PR (<jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">r</jats:italic> = 0.644, <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">P</jats:italic> < 0.0001).</jats:p>\n          </jats:sec>\n          <jats:sec>\n            <jats:title>Conclusion:</jats:title>\n            <jats:p>The NIRF analysis shows that top medical institutions excel in teaching and outcomes but lag in research, a critical determinant of their overall score. Institutions should prioritize enhancing research output, securing grants, and collaborating with top research bodies, while also improving visibility through media, alumni engagement, and academic partnerships.</jats:p>\n          </jats:sec>","journal":"Indian Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery","year":2025,"id":8404,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":0,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.0504,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2025-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":73430,"name":"Akhyaya Kumar Dash","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":73431,"name":"Shaikat Mondal","orcid":"0000-0001-5027-4657","position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":73432,"name":"Joshil Kumar Behera","orcid":null,"position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":73433,"name":"A K Dash","orcid":null,"position":4,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":73429,"name":"Himel Mondal","orcid":"0000-0001-6950-5857","position":0,"is_corresponding":true}],"reference_count":16,"raw_metadata":null,"created_at":"2026-03-01T18:20:47.508186Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
