{"doi":"10.3390/ijerph19084642","title":"Examining the Influencing Factors of Chronic Hepatitis B Monitoring Behaviors among Asian Americans: Application of the Information-Motivation-Behavioral Model","abstract":"Background: Compared to non-Hispanic whites, Asian Americans are 60% more likely to die from the disease. Doctor visitation for chronic hepatitis B (CHB) infection every six months is an effective approach to preventing liver cancer. Methods: This study utilized baseline data from an ongoing randomized controlled clinical trial aimed at improving long-term adherence to CHB monitoring/treatment. Guided by the information-motivation-behavioral skills (IMB) model, we examined factors associated with CHB monitoring adherence among Asian Americans with CHB. Multivariable logistic regression was conducted to test the associations. Results: The analysis sample consisted of 382 participants. Multivariable logistic regression showed that HBV knowledge (OR = 1.24, p < 0.01) and CHB-management motivation (OR = 1.06, p < 0.05) are significant predictors of having a doctor’s visit in the past six months. Both factors were positively associated with the likelihood of having had blood tests for HBV in the past six months. Conclusion: We found that greater HBV-related knowledge and CHB-management motivation are significantly associated with performing CHB-monitoring behaviors in the past six months. The findings have critical implications for the development and implementation of evidence-based interventions for CHB monitoring and liver cancer prevention in the Asian American community.","journal":"International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health","year":2022,"id":264982,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":11,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9548,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2022-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":52786,"name":"Lin Zhu","orcid":"0000-0002-4671-1129","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":765244,"name":"Wenyue Lu","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":447414,"name":"Yin Tan","orcid":"0000-0001-6280-6403","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":924150,"name":"Jade Truehart","orcid":null,"position":4,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":924151,"name":"Cicely Johnson","orcid":null,"position":5,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":241843,"name":"Elizabeth A.
