To further explore 36 the crosstalk between these two systems, we present this special issue on the role certain agents, such 37 as drugs, metabolic regulators, and genetic diseases, play in altering cardiovascular health. This series 38 also focuses on how alterations in the activity of specific drug targets like enzymes, receptors, and 39 mRNA affect cardiac and vascular health. Blood serves as the connecting link between the cardiac and 40 vascular system, with components of both blood and blood pressure participating in cardiac-to-vascular 41 crosstalk. This series has specifically focused on complications and associated targets in cardiac tissue, 42 the vascular system, and the blood. and smooth muscle pharmacology, along with therapeutics for blood diseases that impact the 101 cardiovascular system.
