Adding usability as a critical element of the procurement process is therefore crucial. During the competitive usability evaluation of several EHRs, the usability walkthrough method has the potential of making end-users more active in the procurement process than demonstrations. This case study presents first results of a comparison of three EHRs performed by nine representative end-users. All users uncovered usability problems while performing their scenarios. The results show that none of the EHRs evaluated is without major usability problems. These problems have been well-known to human factors researchers for a long time.</jats:p>","journal":"Studies in Health Technology and Informatics","year":2021,"id":27674,"datarank":0.2818282424862921,"base_score":1.6094379124341003,"endowment":1.6094379124341003,"self_citation_contribution":0.24141568686511508,"citation_network_contribution":0.04041255562117705,"self_endowment_contribution":0.24141568686511508,"citer_contribution":0.04041255562117705,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":4,"citer_count":2,"citers_with_citation_signal":2,"citers_with_endowment":2,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":157036,"name":"Jessica Schiro","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":157037,"name":"Louise Heyndels","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":157038,"name":"Sandra Guerlinger","orcid":null,"position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":157039,"name":"Annick Pigot","orcid":null,"position":4,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":157040,"name":"Sylvia Pelayo","orcid":null,"position":5,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":157035,"name":"Romaric Marcilly","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"base_score":1.6094379124341003,"endowment":1.6094379124341003,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"34042791","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W3165168700","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":1.9691,"citation_percentile":0.88013136,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2023,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":2},{"year":2025,"count":1}],"oa_status":"hybrid","license":"cc-by-nc","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://ebooks.iospress.nl/pdf/doi/10.3233/SHTI210296","host_type":"book series"},{"url":"https://ebooks.iospress.nl/pdf/doi/10.3233/SHTI210296","host_type":"HYBRID"},{"url":"https://ebooks.iospress.nl/pdf/doi/10.3233/SHTI210296","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.3233/shti210296","host_type":"book series"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34042791","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://hal.science/hal-04097847","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/20.500.12210/90342","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Electronic Health Records Systems","Healthcare Systems and Technology","Healthcare Technology and Patient Monitoring","Medicine","Computer Science","Electronic Health Records","Hospitals","Humans","Research Personnel","User-Computer Interface"],"mesh_terms":["Hospitals","Humans","Research Personnel","User-Computer Interface","Electronic Health Records"],"keywords":["Usability","Cognitive walkthrough","Pluralistic walkthrough","Computer science","Usability engineering","Usability lab","Usability inspection","Usability goals","Software walkthrough","Procurement","Process (computing)","Health records","Web usability","System usability scale","Human–computer interaction","World Wide Web","Software","Business","Health care","Software development","Electronic health record","evaluation","procurement process","usability walkthrough","user involvement"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-06-08T19:04:26.279889Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
