Confirmation of this is presented in a controlled dietary experiment using rhesus monkeys. For satisfactory comparative data, determinations should be made on fasting blood specimens. On the basis of the studies recorded, we believe that fasting plasma ascorbic acid levels below 0.7 mg. % are probably sub-optimal. Levels langing between 0.7 and 0.9 mg. % would appear adequate. Optimal levels probably lie above this range. Reduced ascorbic acid plasma levels below 0.5 mg. % must be considered low.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":3.4965075614664802,"endowment":3.4965075614664802,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"26207759","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2313947543","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":7.2,"citation_percentile":0.96958175,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2025,"count":2}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.3181/00379727-35-8885c","host_type":"journal"}],"fields_of_study":["Vitamin C and Antioxidants Research"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Ascorbic acid","Vitamin C","Chemistry","Blood plasma","Plasma levels","Vitamin","Internal medicine","Endocrinology","Biochemistry","Plasma","Food science","Medicine"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Zero hunger"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-17T01:46:59.795921Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
