{"doi":"10.31438/trf.hh2024.70","title":"TAILORING ENHANCEMENT OF SILICON DIOXIDE ADHESION TO POLYCARBONATE SUBSTRATES FOR 3D MICROELECTRODE ARRAYS (3D MEAS) OTHER BIOSENSORS","abstract":"Widely employed for its affordability and design flexibility, polycarbonate (PC) encounters adhesion challenges when paired with silicon dioxide (SiO2).The interfacial bonding between SiO2 and PC is compromised, lacking both chemical and physical interactions.SiO2, being a polar material with high surface energy, contrasts with PC, a nonpolar material having low surface energy [1].Herein, this paper investigates enhancing the adhesion between polycarbonate and silicon dioxide using solution-based chemistries, employing (3-glycidoxypropyl) methyl diethoxysilane (GPTMS) and (3-aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (APTMS).In the bondedlayer substrate final configuration, a sandwich layer is formed between the PC substrate and the deposited SiO2 layer.This layer comprises a solution-based coating of GPTMS followed by the application of a trientine (trien for short), serving as an intermediate interface to improve adhesion properties.Additionally, another sandwich layer is formed using APTMS followed by the application of a bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE), serving the same purpose as trien for GPTMS.Furthermore, the study explores the biocompatibility of these adhesion promoter mediated coatings of SiO2 atop PC towards 3D Microelectrode Arrays (MEAs) and other biosensor applications utilizing these novel silane coupling agents, GPTMS and APTMS.","journal":null,"year":2024,"id":508554,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":0,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9492,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2024-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":1360404,"name":"Omar S.
