{"doi":"10.31234/osf.io/7hr5k_v1","title":"Wellbeing as a catalyst: Teenage wellbeing is associated with positive social, health and lifestyle outcomes in early adulthood","abstract":"Puberty through young adulthood is marked by significant physical, psychological, and social changes. Adolescence holds a window of opportunity to foster resilience, healthy lifestyles, and overall wellbeing, however, research on teenage wellbeing and later life outcomes is lacking. In the current study, associations between teenage wellbeing (age 14-16) and sociodemographic, health and lifestyle outcomes in early adulthood (age 20-25 and 25-35) were investigated using both between-family and within-family designs among 14518 twins and their siblings of the Netherlands Twin Register. Between-family analyses showed positive associations between teenage wellbeing and wellbeing, flourishing, consciousness, self-rated health and sleep quality in early adulthood, and inverse associations with early adulthood neuroticism and smoking habits. The associations with wellbeing, flourishing, self-rated health, sleep quality and neuroticism were also observed when including a sibling fixed effect. Results emphasize the catalyzing effect of teenage wellbeing in shaping later life trajectories, independent of possible genetic and environmental influences.","journal":"PsyArXiv (OSF Preprints)","year":2024,"id":487627,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":3,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9561,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2024-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":264625,"name":"Meike Bartels","orcid":"0000-0002-9667-7555","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":400517,"name":"Anne J.
