{"doi":"10.31219/osf.io/9hmjd","title":"Differential expression of S100P in pancreatic cancer.","abstract":"<p>Cancer is a leading cause of death and pancreatic cancer is among the most lethal cancers  (1, 2).  We mined published microarray datasets (3, 4) to determine in an unbiased fashion and at the level of the transcriptome genes most differentially expressed in the primary tumors of patients with pancreatic cancer, pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PDAC).  We found significant differential expression of the gene encoding S100 calcium-binding protein P, S100P, when comparing pancreatic tumors to the tissue of origin, the pancreas.  S100P mRNA was present at significantly higher quantities in tumors of the pancreas as compared to normal pancreatic tissue.  Analysis of human survival data revealed that expression of S100P in pancreatic tumors was correlated with overall survival in patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
