It also examines the mediating effect of work-family conflict (WFC), a measure of work-family balance (WFB) on the relationship between NMPE and NM outcomes. The data set includes 181 NMs that are planning to leave their position in the next three years and have either inpatient (IP) or both IP and outpatient (OP) responsibilities. On average, NMs had 7.1 years of experience, responsible for 61.9 full-time equivalents (FTEs), and worked 50.6 hours per week. NMs reported a favorable or more positive practice environment (NMPE; M = 4.63, SD = 0.63), that work conflicted with family 1-2 days per week (M = 4.02, SD = 1.32), but family rarely or never conflicted with work (M = 1.6, SD = 0.68). Generally, NMs were \"somewhat satisfied\" with their job (M = 4.5, SD = 1.10), and would be \"somewhat likely\" to recommend nursing leadership as a career choice (M = 4.29, SD = 1.28). Lastly, the most frequent reason for a NM leaving their position was related to career advancement or promotion (39.8%). A linear regression established that hours worked/week and number of FTEs had a significant negative relationship with NMPE (R2 = 3.7%, β = -.192, F(1, 174) = 6.69, p =.01; R2 = 7.9%, β = -.205, F(2, 173) = 7.39, p =.001). Linear regression established that job satisfaction (JS), career recommendation (CR), and reason for leaving (RFL) were all able to positively predict NMPES scores (R2 = 36.7%, β = .606, F(1, 179) = 103.67, p = < .001; R2 = 32%, β = .566, F(1, 179)= 84.28, p = < .001; R2 = 12.3%, β = .351, F(1, 162) = 22.73, p < .001). The NMPE was a significant negative predictor of WFC and FWC (R2 = 12.5%, β = -.353, F(1,179) = 25.54, p = <.001; R2 = 4.6%, β = -.215, F(1, 178) = 8.59, p = .004). Even though there were significant relationships between the NMPE and both mediators and NM outcomes, there was a lack of significance in the relationship between the mediators and NM outcomes, so mediation could not be concluded.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":1,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"21097893","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W3046678860","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"green","license":"http://rightsstatements.org/vocab/CNE/1.0/","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.25677/rwjx-ge60","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://digitalcollections.cuanschutz.edu/:vb8tp-69869","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://hdl.handle.net/10968/3459","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.25677/vb8tp-69869","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Hermeneutics and Narrative Identity","Aging, Elder Care, and Social Issues","Health, Medicine and Society"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Health Facility Environment","Work-Life Balance","Nurse Administrators","Reason for Leaving","Nurse Manager Outcomes","Nurse manager","Nursing","Psychology","Business","Medicine"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[{"doi":"10.25677/vb8tp-69869","title":"Relationship between nurse manager practice environments and nurse manager outcomes, The","publisher":"Ubiquity Repositories","resource_type":"Dissertation"}],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-18T20:40:52.156787Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
