This paper discusses the current relationship between statistics and Python and open source more generally, outlining how the statsmodels package fills a gap in this relationship. An overview of statsmodels is provided, including a discussion of the overarching design and philosophy, what can be found in the package, and some usage examples. The paper concludes with a look at what the future holds.","journal":"Proceedings of the Python in Science Conference","year":2010,"id":6797,"datarank":18.108149415731198,"base_score":8.75463404743127,"endowment":8.75463404743127,"self_citation_contribution":1.3131951071146908,"citation_network_contribution":16.794954308616507,"self_endowment_contribution":1.3131951071146908,"citer_contribution":16.794954308616507,"corpus_percentile":88.8,"corpus_rank":2269,"citation_count":6339,"citer_count":199,"citers_with_citation_signal":199,"citers_with_endowment":199,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2010-01-01","authors":[{"id":62729,"name":"Josef Perktold","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":3477,"name":"Skipper Seabold","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":true}],"reference_count":18,"raw_metadata":{"citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-03-01T18:20:47.508186Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
