Antibodies fractionated by these methods can bind antigens with electrophoretic mobility different from those antigens from which they are eluted. Such antibodies thus are considered cross-reactive. Studies in which the target antigens are reacted with sodium periodate to destroy carbohydrate epitopes prior to exposure to the eluted antibodies revealed that antibodies are produced that bind to both carbohydrate and noncarbohydrate epitopes on western blots, but that most of the cross-reactive antibodies are directed toward carbohydrate moieties.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.4849066497880004,"endowment":2.4849066497880004,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"1717672","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2313745184","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.329,"citation_percentile":0.61694248,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2015,"count":1}],"oa_status":"hybrid","license":"cc-by","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.2307/3282727","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.2307/3282727","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1717672","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Trypanosoma species research and implications","Toxin Mechanisms and Immunotoxins","Biochemical and Molecular Research"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Antibodies, Protozoan","Epitopes","Antigens, Protozoan","Carbohydrates","Cross Reactions","Electrophoresis, Polyacrylamide Gel","Immune Sera","Mice, Inbred C3H","Trypanosoma cruzi","Chagas Disease","Blotting, Western","Mice"],"keywords":["Epitope","Antigen","Trypanosoma cruzi","Antibody","Biology","Blot","Cross-reactivity","Carbohydrate","Biochemistry","Molecular biology","Virology","Immunology","Parasite hosting","Cross reactions"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-30T03:23:31.502494Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
