Illus. 1961.—Growth adaptation is a regular feature of the vegetative cycle of\n                    <jats:italic>thi‐1</jats:italic>\n                    strains of\n                    <jats:italic>Neurospora crassa</jats:italic>\n                    but not of\n                    <jats:italic>thi‐2</jats:italic>\n                    or\n                    <jats:italic>thi‐3</jats:italic>\n                    strains. The adaptive growth of\n                    <jats:italic>thi‐1</jats:italic>\n                    strains is paralleled by the production of cocarboxylase and carboxylase levels which are similar to those of wild‐type strains.
