The major question is, What can the QTL tell us? Specifically, we want to know whether those genome regions differ from other regions in terms of genes relevant to diabetes. Which genes are within those QTL regions, and, among them, which genes have already been linked to diabetes? whether more polymorphisms have been associated with diabetes in the QTL regions than in the non-QTL regions. Our search revealed a total of 9038 genes from 26 type 1 diabetes QTL, which cover 667,096,006 bp of the mouse genomic sequence. On one hand, a large number of candidate genes are in each of these QTL; on the other hand, we found that some obvious candidate genes of QTL have not yet been investigated. Thus, the comprehensive search of candidate genes for known QTL may provide unexpected benefit for identifying QTL genes for diabetes.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.639057329615259,"endowment":2.639057329615259,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19471607","pmcid":"PMC2685644","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2092286609","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NIDDK NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 DK062103","title":null},{"funder_name":"NIAMS NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 AR051190","title":null},{"funder_name":"National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"1R01AR051190-01","title":"MUTATION SCREENING OF SKELETAL DISEASE MOUSE MODELS"}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":0.9349,"citation_percentile":0.78749671,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":1},{"year":2014,"count":1},{"year":2015,"count":1},{"year":2017,"count":2},{"year":2022,"count":3},{"year":2023,"count":2}],"oa_status":"green","license":"cc-by","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/2685644","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/pmc2685644?pdf=render","host_type":"GREEN"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/2685644","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://eurekaselect.com/article/download/67320","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.2174/138920208785133253","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19471607","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/PMC2685644","host_type":"Europe_PMC"},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/PMC2685644?pdf=render","host_type":"Europe_PMC"},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/10.2174/138920208785133253","host_type":""},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.2174/138920208785133253","host_type":""},{"url":"https://doi.org/https://doi.org/10.2174/138920208785133253","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Pancreatic function and diabetes","Diabetes and associated disorders","Metabolism, Diabetes, and Cancer","Biology","Medicine","0301 basic medicine","03 medical and health sciences","0302 clinical medicine"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Quantitative trait locus","Candidate gene","Family-based QTL mapping","Genetics","Biology","Gene","Mendelian inheritance","Genetic linkage","Polygene","Gene mapping","Chromosome","Polymorphism","Quantitative trait loci","type 1 diabetes","Insulin-dependent Diabetes Mellitus (Iddm)","Mouse.","616","Article"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
