The purposive sampling technique is a type of non-probability sampling that is most effective when one needs to study a certain cultural domain with knowledgeable experts within. Purposive sampling may also be used with both qualitative and quantitative researchtechniques. The inherent bias of the method contributesto its efficiency, and the method stays robust even when tested against random probability sampling. Choosingthe purposive sample is fundamental to the quality of data gathered; thus, reliability and competence of the informantmust be ensured.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":7.848153086199526,"endowment":7.848153086199526,"datacite_reuse_total":24,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19910364","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W1820505434","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":23.9549,"citation_percentile":0.9914449,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":28},{"year":2013,"count":48},{"year":2014,"count":100},{"year":2015,"count":119},{"year":2016,"count":116},{"year":2017,"count":119},{"year":2018,"count":163},{"year":2019,"count":185},{"year":2020,"count":231},{"year":2021,"count":290},{"year":2022,"count":271},{"year":2023,"count":261},{"year":2024,"count":236},{"year":2025,"count":241},{"year":2026,"count":122}],"oa_status":"gold","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://ethnobotanyjournal.org/index.php/era/article/download/126/111","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://ethnobotanyjournal.org/index.php/era/article/download/126/111","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://journals.sfu.ca/era/index.php/era/article/viewFile/126/111","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.17348/era.5.0.147-158","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/10125/227","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Rangeland Management and Livestock Ecology"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Nonprobability sampling","Probability sampling","Sampling (signal processing)","Statistics","Sample (material)","Lot quality assurance sampling","Competence (human resources)","Simple random sample","Computer science","Psychology","Mathematics","Social psychology","Sociology","Population"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Quality Education"}],"linked_datasets":[{"doi":"10.6084/m9.figshare.12486659.v1","title":"Additional file 1 of Healthy aging through the lens of community-based practitioners: a focus group study","publisher":"figshare","resource_type":"JournalArticle"},{"doi":"10.6084/m9.figshare.12486659","title":"Additional file 1 of Healthy aging through the lens of community-based practitioners: a focus group study","publisher":"figshare","resource_type":"JournalArticle"},{"doi":"10.6084/m9.figshare.14812426.v1","title":"Additional file 1 of Comparative analysis of management practices and end-users’ desired breeding traits in the miracle plant [Synsepalum dulcificum (Schumach & Thonn.)
