PRC graduate student trainee Olusegun Owotomo, PRC faculty research associate Julie Maslowsky, and co-author Alexandra Loukas found that adolescent e-cigarette users endorsed a number of attitudes, perceptions, and characteristics that are risk factors for conventional cigarette smoking. These perceptions may leave them vulnerable to becoming conventional cigarette smokers or dual users in the future and potentially increase their risk for nicotine addiction.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19965766","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2766573449","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"National Institutes of Health","grant_id":"5R24HD042849-02","title":"Population Research Center"}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"green","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://repositories.lib.utexas.edu/bitstreams/f0f26ac2-c0a9-40f0-b13b-ccc210da4dc2/download","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/2152/62432","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://repositories.lib.utexas.edu/bitstream/2152/62432/2/prc-brief-2-13-owotomo-ecigarettes.pdf","host_type":""},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.15781/t25d8nw7p","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.15781/t25d8nw7p","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Smoking Behavior and Cessation","03 medical and health sciences","0305 other medical science"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Harm","Popularity","Nicotine Addiction","Cigarette smoking","Addiction","Electronic cigarette","Nicotine","Perception","Medicine","Environmental health","Monitoring the Future","Harm reduction","Psychology","Psychiatry","Social psychology","Public health","Substance abuse","Nursing","Internal medicine"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
