Effects of the dopamine agonist cabergoline in patients with prolactinoma intolerant or resistant to bromocriptine. Eur J Endocrinol 1996;134:454–6. ISSN 0804–4643
\n
Cabergoline is a new long-acting ergoline derivative used to treat hyperprolactinaemia. Its effect was assessed in 10 patients (eight women and two men) with prolactinoma who were intolerant (group I; N = 7) or resistant (group II; N = 3) to bromocriptine. In group I, no side effect was observed on cabergoline therapy; two patients became pregnant and normoprolactinaemia was achieved in the five others. In group II, cabergoline was active and well-tolerated in two out of the three patients: one woman had three consecutive pregnancies; in another patient normoprolactinaemia was restored and the tumour shrank by 60%; in the third patient cabergoline was discontinued because of side effects and inefficacy. Thus, cabergoline appears to be an alternative of choice as treatment of hyper-prolactinaemic patients who are intolerant or resistant to bromocriptine.
\n
Julian Donckier, Internal Medicine and Endocrinology, University Hospital UCL of Mont-Godinne, B-5530 Yvoir, Belgium
","journal":"European Journal of Endocrinology","year":1996,"id":42048,"datarank":4.628436671223749,"base_score":4.736198448394496,"endowment":4.736198448394496,"self_citation_contribution":0.7104297672591745,"citation_network_contribution":3.918006903964575,"self_endowment_contribution":0.7104297672591745,"citer_contribution":3.918006903964575,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":113,"citer_count":76,"citers_with_citation_signal":70,"citers_with_endowment":70,"datacite_reuse_total":25,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":201783,"name":"Dominique Maiter","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":201784,"name":"Julian Donckier","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":201782,"name":"Etienne Delgrange","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"base_score":4.736198448394496,"endowment":4.736198448394496,"datacite_reuse_total":25,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"8640297","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2010292012","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":3.7419,"citation_percentile":0.93548658,"influential_citations":3,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":2},{"year":2013,"count":1},{"year":2014,"count":4},{"year":2015,"count":2},{"year":2017,"count":2},{"year":2018,"count":4},{"year":2019,"count":6},{"year":2021,"count":4},{"year":2022,"count":31},{"year":2023,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://eje.bioscientifica.com/view/journals/eje/134/4/eje_134_4_017.xml","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1530/eje.0.1340454","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/8640297","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://hdl.handle.net/2078.1/32408","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Pituitary Gland Disorders and Treatments","Adrenal and Paraganglionic Tumors","Growth Hormone and Insulin-like Growth Factors","Medicine","Adult","Antineoplastic Agents","Bromocriptine","Cabergoline","Dopamine Agonists","Drug Resistance, Neoplasm","Ergolines","Female","Humans","Male","Middle Aged","Pituitary Neoplasms","Pregnancy","Prolactinoma"],"mesh_terms":["Cabergoline","Adult","Antineoplastic Agents","Bromocriptine","Ergolines","Female","Humans","Male","Middle Aged","Pituitary Neoplasms","Pregnancy","Prolactinoma","Dopamine Agonists","Drug Resistance, Neoplasm"],"keywords":["Cabergoline","Bromocriptine","Dopamine agonist","Hyperprolactinaemia","Prolactinoma","Medicine","Internal medicine","Endocrinology","Agonist","Dopamine","Dopaminergic","Prolactin","Hormone"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[{"doi":"10.6084/m9.figshare.19556341.v1","title":"Additional file 10 of Are dopamine agonists still the first-choice treatment for prolactinoma in the era of endoscopy?
