This threat comes from the past when in the Americas, this disease caused devastating urban epidemics. We report the vector competence of Ae. aegypti from Guadeloupe for yellow fever virus by determining different parameters describing virus infection, dissemination, and transmission. The results indicate that Ae. aegypti Guadeloupe are susceptible to yellow fever virus with viral particles detected in mosquito saliva at 14 and 21 days post-infection. Local authorities and more broadly, international organizations should maintain the active surveillance of Aedes mosquitoes and the spreading of human cases from South America.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.772588722239781,"endowment":2.772588722239781,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"30265716","pmcid":"PMC6161873","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2894330506","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":1.9511,"citation_percentile":0.86430412,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2019,"count":2},{"year":2020,"count":5},{"year":2021,"count":2},{"year":2022,"count":2},{"year":2023,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":1},{"year":2025,"count":1},{"year":2026,"count":1}],"oa_status":"gold","license":"cc-by","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/file?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0204710&type=printable","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/file?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0204710&type=printable","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://dx.plos.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0204710","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0204710","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30265716","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/6161873","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://pasteur.hal.science/pasteur-01887187","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://doaj.org/article/19312ea3a27e49deb7b4bc2412f3dc95","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/PMC6161873","host_type":"Europe_PMC"},{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/PMC6161873?pdf=render","host_type":"Europe_PMC"}],"fields_of_study":["Mosquito-borne diseases and control","Malaria Research and Control","Insect symbiosis and bacterial influences","Aedes","Animals","Brazil","Guadeloupe","Humans","Saliva","Yellow Fever","Yellow fever virus"],"mesh_terms":["Aedes","Animals","Brazil","Humans","Saliva","Yellow Fever","Yellow fever virus","Guadeloupe"],"keywords":["Aedes aegypti","Yellow fever","Vector (molecular biology)","Outbreak","Virology","Aedes","Zika virus","Chikungunya","Virus","Biology","Dengue fever","Transmission (telecommunications)","West indies","Flaviviridae","Viral disease","Geography","Ecology","Larva","Ethnology","History"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[{"name":"gen"}],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-12T04:35:34.258162Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
