These regions, as we have shown previously, exhibit opposite rhythms in expression of the core clock protein, PERIOD2 (PER2). We found that the expression of Per2, Bmal1 and Dbp follow a diurnal rhythm in all three regions but the phase and amplitude of the rhythms of each gene vary across regions, revealing important regional differences in temporal dynamics underlying local daily rhythm generation in the mammalian forebrain. These findings underscore the complex temporal organization of subordinate circadian oscillators in the forebrain and raise interesting questions about the functional connection of these oscillators with the master SCN clock.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"19162232","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":null,"authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"Canadian Institutes of Health Research","grant_id":"unidentified","title":"unidentified"}],"total_grants":1,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[],"oa_status":"gold","license":"cc-by","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article/file?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0103309&type=printable","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://dx.plos.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0103309","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doaj.org/article/90a7be32f15a4fc5912c850892f47657","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/4113347","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0103309","host_type":""},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25068868","host_type":""},{"url":"http://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0103309","host_type":""},{"url":"https://dx.doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0103309","host_type":""},{"url":"https://spectrum.library.concordia.ca/id/eprint/978787/","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["0301 basic medicine","0303 health sciences","03 medical and health sciences"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Male","Reverse Transcriptase Polymerase Chain Reaction","Science","Gene Expression Profiling","Q","Central Amygdaloid Nucleus","R","ARNTL Transcription Factors","Period Circadian Proteins","Circadian Rhythm","DNA-Binding Proteins","Prosencephalon","Rats, Inbred Lew","Dentate Gyrus","Medicine","Animals","Suprachiasmatic Nucleus","Research Article","Transcription Factors"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":3,"sdg_label":"3.
