{"doi":"10.1152/japplphysiol.00711.2021","title":"No effect of acute tetrahydrobiopterin (BH<sub>4</sub>) supplementation on vascular dysfunction in the old","abstract":"Despite two different experimental approaches, acute BH 4 supplementation did not affect vascular function in older adults, as measured by flow-mediated vasodilation. Plasma levels of both BH 4 and BH 2 , the BH 4 oxidized form, significantly increased after acute BH 4 supplementation, resulting in an unchanged ratio of BH 4 /BH 2 , a key determining factor for endothelial nitric oxide synthase coupling.
