{"doi":"10.1139/m71-012","title":"The synthesis of <scp>L</scp>-serine by <i>Micrococcus lysodeikticus</i>","abstract":"<jats:p> The phosphorylated pathway was established as a biosynthetic route to L-serine in Micrococcus lysodeikticus. Evidence was based upon the demonstration of the synthesis of L-phosphoserine (PS) and serine from D-3-phosphoglyceric acid (PGA) and by the detection of phosphoglyceric acid dehydrogenase and PS phosphatase activities in crude cell-free extracts. The synthesis of PS from PGA was enhanced by L-glutamic acid and by L-lactic dehydrogenase. PS phosphatase was stimulated by added Mg<jats:sup>2+</jats:sup> ion.
