It is important to control hypercortisolism during pregnancy, either surgically or medically, for a successful maternal and fetal outcome. We report a patient with recurrent CD who was treated with low-dose cabergoline (CAB) for persistent hypercortisolism throughout pregnancy. A 36-year-old woman was diagnosed with CD at the age of 23. She underwent trans-sphenoidal surgery with initial complete remission. However, 4 years after surgery, CD recurred and she underwent Gamma Knife radiosurgery (GKRS). Following GKRS, her cortisol levels remained elevated despite no evidence of visible tumour on pituitary MRI. Medical treatment was commenced with ketoconazole and cyproheptadine. This was changed to CAB as she was keen for pregnancy. She conceived spontaneously and was on CAB throughout pregnancy. She delivered a healthy male neonate, weighing 3195 g at 40 weeks of gestation.</jats:p>","journal":"BMJ Case Reports","year":2017,"id":42476,"datarank":1.1576153453349818,"base_score":3.295836866004329,"endowment":3.295836866004329,"self_citation_contribution":0.4943755299006494,"citation_network_contribution":0.6632398154343323,"self_endowment_contribution":0.4943755299006494,"citer_contribution":0.6632398154343323,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":26,"citer_count":26,"citers_with_citation_signal":21,"citers_with_endowment":21,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":203261,"name":"Doddabele Srinivasa Deepak","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":203262,"name":"Kok Onn Lee","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":203260,"name":"Kathleen Su-Yen Sek","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"base_score":3.295836866004329,"endowment":3.295836866004329,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"28710189","pmcid":"PMC5534655","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2736027181","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":1.5314,"citation_percentile":0.83757953,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2018,"count":3},{"year":2019,"count":5},{"year":2020,"count":1},{"year":2021,"count":4},{"year":2022,"count":5},{"year":2023,"count":2},{"year":2024,"count":3},{"year":2025,"count":1},{"year":2026,"count":2}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://europepmc.org/articles/pmc5534655?pdf=render","host_type":"GREEN"},{"url":"https://syndication.highwire.org/content/doi/10.1136/bcr-2016-217855","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1136/bcr-2016-217855","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28710189","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://scholarbank.nus.edu.sg/handle/10635/205951","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/5534655","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://casereports.bmj.com/cgi/content/short/2017/jul14_2/bcr-2016-217855","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Pituitary Gland Disorders and Treatments","Growth Hormone and Insulin-like Growth Factors","Adrenal and Paraganglionic Tumors","Medicine","Adult","Antineoplastic Agents","Cabergoline","Diagnosis, Differential","Ergolines","Female","Humans","Pituitary ACTH Hypersecretion","Pregnancy","Pregnancy Complications","Prenatal Diagnosis","Recurrence","Remission Induction"],"mesh_terms":["Cabergoline","Adult","Antineoplastic Agents","Diagnosis, Differential","Ergolines","Female","Humans","Pregnancy","Pregnancy Complications","Prenatal Diagnosis","Recurrence","Remission Induction","Pituitary ACTH Hypersecretion"],"keywords":["Cabergoline","Medicine","Pregnancy","Pituitary disorder","Cushing's disease","Pediatrics","Obstetrics","Disease","General surgery","Intensive care medicine","Internal medicine","Prolactin","Endocrine system","Pituitary Disorders"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-06-14T03:12:30.399591Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
