{"doi":"10.1128/aem.71.1.558-561.2005","title":"Transcriptional Analysis of Genes Encoding Shiga Toxin 2 and Its Variants in\n            <i>Escherichia coli</i>","abstract":"<jats:title>ABSTRACT</jats:title>\n          <jats:p>\n            Six of 37 non-O157\n            <jats:italic>Escherichia coli</jats:italic>\n            strains possessing Shiga toxin (Stx) 2 gene variant\n            <jats:italic>stx</jats:italic>\n            <jats:sub>2d</jats:sub>\n            or\n            <jats:italic>stx</jats:italic>\n            <jats:sub>2e</jats:sub>\n            secreted no detectable Stx. These isolates produced significantly less\n            <jats:italic>stx</jats:italic>\n            mRNA than Stx2d, Stx2e, Stx2c, or Stx2 secretors did.
