We compared carbapenemase-negative\n            <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\" content-type=\"genus-species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">K. pneumoniae</jats:named-content>\n            with carbapenemase-producing\n            <jats:named-content xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\" content-type=\"genus-species\" xlink:type=\"simple\">K. pneumoniae</jats:named-content>\n            (CPKP) isolates with similar MICs. CPKP isolates exhibited a marked inoculum effect and were more resistant to the bactericidal effect of meropenem.
