{"doi":"10.1126/science.3563507","title":"Perception of Risk","abstract":"Studies of risk perception examine the judgements people make when they are asked to characterize and evaluate hazardous activities and technologies. This research aims to aid risk analysis and policy-making by providing a basis for understanding and anticipating public responses to hazards and improving the communication of risk information among lay people, technical experts, and decision-makers. This work assumes that those who promote and regulate health and safety need to understand how people think about and respond to risk. Without such understanding, well-intended policies may be ineffective.","journal":"Science","year":1987,"id":1125,"datarank":19.129959481742713,"base_score":9.099408811268901,"endowment":9.099408811268901,"self_citation_contribution":1.3649113216903355,"citation_network_contribution":17.765048160052377,"self_endowment_contribution":1.3649113216903355,"citer_contribution":17.765048160052377,"corpus_percentile":92.7,"corpus_rank":1544,"citation_count":8949,"citer_count":186,"citers_with_citation_signal":186,"citers_with_endowment":186,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"1987-04-17","authors":[{"id":15030,"name":"Paul Slovic","orcid":"0000-0002-7473-6403","position":0,"is_corresponding":true}],"reference_count":37,"raw_metadata":{"citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-03-01T18:20:47.508186Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
