{"doi":"10.1126/science.1116815","title":"Ongoing Adaptive Evolution of\n                    <i>ASPM</i>\n                    , a Brain Size Determinant in\n                    <i>Homo sapiens</i>","abstract":"<jats:p>\n                    The gene\n                    <jats:italic>ASPM</jats:italic>\n                    (\n                    <jats:italic>abnormal spindle-like microcephaly associated</jats:italic>\n                    ) is a specific regulator of brain size, and its evolution in the lineage leading to\n                    <jats:italic>Homo sapiens</jats:italic>\n                    was driven by strong positive selection. Here, we show that one genetic variant of\n                    <jats:italic>ASPM</jats:italic>\n                    in humans arose merely about 5800 years ago and has since swept to high frequency under strong positive selection.
