{"doi":"10.1111/jjns.12002","title":"Factors affecting quality of life in Korean patients with chronic heart failure","abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:sec><jats:title>Aim</jats:title><jats:p>Poor health‐related quality of life (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content>) in patients with chronic heart failure (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">CHF</jats:styled-content>) may be one of the most common predictors of mortality and rehospitalization. This study was conducted to identify factors affecting <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content> in Korean patients with <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">CHF</jats:styled-content> using two <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content> measurements.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Methods</jats:title><jats:p>The study included a sample of 114 patients. <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content> was measured by the <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">M</jats:styled-content>innesota <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">L</jats:styled-content>iving with <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">H</jats:styled-content>eart <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">F</jats:styled-content>ailure <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">Q</jats:styled-content>uestionnaire (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">MLHFQ</jats:styled-content>) and the <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">W</jats:styled-content>orld <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">H</jats:styled-content>ealth <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">O</jats:styled-content>rganization's <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">Q</jats:styled-content>uality of <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">L</jats:styled-content>ife <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">I</jats:styled-content>nstrument – <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">S</jats:styled-content>hort <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">V</jats:styled-content>ersion (<jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">WHOQOL‐BREF</jats:styled-content>). Multiple regression analyses were performed to analyze the relationship between the factors and <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content>.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Results</jats:title><jats:p>Significant correlations were found between <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">MLHFQ</jats:styled-content> and <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">WHOQOL‐BREF</jats:styled-content> in total and component scores, with the two exceptions of <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">WHOQOL‐BREF</jats:styled-content> psychological and <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">MLHFQ</jats:styled-content> physical or total. The perceived economic status, functional status, and sex were factors identified as having an effect on <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">HRQOL</jats:styled-content>.</jats:p></jats:sec><jats:sec><jats:title>Conclusion</jats:title><jats:p>The <jats:styled-content style=\"fixed-case\">MLHFQ</jats:styled-content> was better able to differentiate sex, comorbidity, and functional status.
