{"doi":"10.1111/imb.12361","title":"<i>Bactericera cockerelli</i>\n                    vitellogenin‐6 like, a vitellogenin without a direct reproductive function?","abstract":"<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title>\n                  <jats:p>\n                    Vitellogenin‐like proteins are members of the large lipid transfer proteins, a family of proteins involved in reproduction, lipid circulation and immune defences. In this study, we identified a new\n                    <jats:italic>Bactericera cockerelli</jats:italic>\n                    vitellogenin‐like (Vg‐like) transcript, and named it\n                    <jats:italic>BcVg6‐like</jats:italic>\n                    based on its similarity to\n                    <jats:italic>Acyrthosiphon pisum Vg6</jats:italic>\n                    .\n                    <jats:italic>In silico</jats:italic>\n                    analyses predicted different conserved domains in\n                    <jats:italic>BcVg6‐like</jats:italic>\n                    compared with the conventional\n                    <jats:italic>Ba. cockerelli</jats:italic>\n                    vitellogenin,\n                    <jats:italic>BcVg1‐like</jats:italic>\n                    , previously described by our research group. Phylogenetic analyses determined that BcVg6‐like clustered with Vg‐like‐B proteins and not the conventional vitellogenins involved in vitellogenesis. Also, the expression analyses showed differences in\n                    <jats:italic>BcVg6‐like</jats:italic>\n                    transcript expression between 7‐day‐old males and 3‐ and 7‐day‐old females.\n                    <jats:italic>BcVg6‐like</jats:italic>\n                    was not upregulated after exogenous application of juvenile hormone III, but its relative expression increased significantly in alimentary canals of adult females exposed to tomato plants infected by the bacterial plant pathogen ‘\n                    <jats:italic>Candidatus</jats:italic>\n                    Liberibacter solanacearum’.
