{"doi":"10.1111/hae.14950","title":"Adult haematology clinics for menstruating/pregnant patients: A single center experience and lessons learned","abstract":"Adult haematology clinics for menstruating/pregnant patients: A single center experience and lessons learned Haematology/Gynaecology Clinics for Adults Coordinated specialty care for patients who have or have had the potential to menstruate or become pregnant, who also have disorders of haemostasis and thrombosis, is an unmet need.Pregnancy, menstruation and hormonal therapies carry unique risks for such patients.Pregnant patients with bleeding disorders and those on anticoagulation require complex care planning, including development of strategies for management of anticoagulation and/or haemostatic therapies around the time of delivery.Similarly, both populations frequently suffer from heavy menstrual bleeding related to underlying disorders (bleeding disorders) or medication (anticoagulant use).Optimal management requires specific expertise and careful coordination between haematologists and obstetricians/gynaecologists.In Europe, approximately one third of haemophilia treatment centres report joint clinics where HMB and pregnancy can be assessed. 1Across the United States (US), while several centres offer this coordinated care in multidisciplinary clinics, 2-9 they are often heavily focused on the care of adolescents.Here we discuss the benefits, challenges and opportunities associated with offering focused hematologic and gynaecologic/obstetric care for patients across the lifespan.Our program consists of an adult haematology-only clinic for female sex individuals (started 2011), combined haematology/gynaecology clinics for adolescents (2015) and adults (2019) as well as a combined haematology/perinatology clinic (2023).The adult combined clinics were modelled after similar adolescent clinics 2 as a collaborative effort between the Haemostasis and Thrombosis Centre (HTC) and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).The HTC provides adult haematologist staffing, medical assistant (MA) and scheduling support, and administrative support (obtaining medical records, faxing orders, etc.).The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology provides gynaecologist and perinatologist staffing","journal":"Haemophilia","year":2024,"id":479408,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":1,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9535,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2024-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":765897,"name":"Kristina M.
