{"doi":"10.1111/1751-7915.13410","title":"<i>Akkermansia muciniphila</i>\n                    is a promising probiotic","abstract":"<jats:title>Summary</jats:title>\n                  <jats:p>\n                    <jats:italic>Akkermansia muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    (\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    ), an intestinal symbiont colonizing in the mucosal layer, is considered to be a promising candidate as probiotics.\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    is known to have an important value in improving the host metabolic functions and immune responses. Moreover,\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    may have a value in modifying cancer treatment. However, most of the current researches focus on the correlation between\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    and diseases, and little is known about the causal relationship between them. Few intervention studies on\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    are limited to animal experiments, and limited studies have explored its safety and efficacy in humans. Therefore, a critical analysis of the current knowledge in\n                    <jats:italic>A. muciniphila</jats:italic>\n                    will play an important foundation for it to be defined as a new beneficial microbe.
