Hyperpolarized carbon-13 magnetic resonance imaging ( <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">13</sup> C-HPMRI) and deuterium metabolic imaging ( <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">2</sup> H-DMI) are two emerging X-nuclei used as practical imaging tools to investigate tissue metabolism. However due to their low gyromagnetic ratios (ɣ <sub xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">13C</sub> = 10.7 MHz/T; <sub xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">ɣ2H</sub> = 6.5 MHz/T) and natural abundance, such method required a sophisticated dual-tuned radiofrequency (RF) coil. <italic xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">Methods:</i> Here, we report a dual-tuned coaxial transmission line (CTL) RF coil agile for metabolite information operating at 7T with independent tuning capability. The design analysis has demonstrated how both resonant frequencies can be individually controlled by simply varying the constituent of the design parameters. <italic xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">Results:</i> Numerical results have demonstrated a broadband tuning range capability, covering most of the X-nucleus signal, especially the <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">13</sup> C and <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">2</sup> H spectra at 7T. Furthermore, in order to validate the feasibility of the proposed design, both dual-tuned <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">1</sup> H/ <sup xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">13</sup> C and 1H/2H CTLs RF coils are fabricated using a semi-flexible RG-405 .086\" coaxial cable and bench test results (scattering parameters and magnetic field efficiency/distribution) are successfully obtained. <italic xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">Conclusion:</i> The proposed dual-tuned RF coils reveal highly effective magnetic field obtained from both proton and heteronuclear signal which is crucial for accurate and detailed imaging. <italic xmlns:mml=\"http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML\" xmlns:xlink=\"http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink\">Significance:</i> The successful development of this new dual-tuned RF coil technique would provide a tangible and efficient tool for ultrahigh field metabolic MR imaging.","journal":"IEEE Transactions on Biomedical Engineering","year":2023,"id":359959,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":10,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9469,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2023-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":1110993,"name":"Yunkun Zhao","orcid":"0009-0006-2859-4500","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":1110066,"name":"Aditya Ashok Bhosale","orcid":"0000-0002-2796-1472","position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":890235,"name":"Xiaoliang Zhang","orcid":"0000-0001-9599-595X","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":940366,"name":"Komlan Payne","orcid":"0000-0002-2127-0689","position":0,"is_corresponding":true}],"reference_count":93,"raw_metadata":null,"created_at":"2026-07-19T01:13:57.361401Z","pmid":"38090865","pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
