SARS-CoV-2 is still adapting to humans and, as illustrated by B.1.1.7 (Alpha) and B.1.617.2 (Delta), lineage dynamics are fluid, and strain prevalence may change radically in a matter of months. The National Institutes of Health's Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx SM ) initiative created a Variant Task Force to assess the impact of emerging SARS-CoV-2 variants on in vitro</i> diagnostic testing. Working in tandem with clinical laboratories, the FDA, and the CDC, the Variant Task Force uses both in silico</i> modeling and in vitro</i> testing to determine the effect of SARS-CoV-2 mutations on diagnostic molecular and antigen tests. Here, we offer an overview of the approach and activities of the RADx Variant Task Force to ensure test performance against emerging SARS-CoV-2 lineages.","journal":"IEEE Open Journal of Engineering in Medicine and Biology","year":2021,"id":191327,"datarank":0.0,"base_score":0.0,"endowment":0.0,"self_citation_contribution":0.0,"citation_network_contribution":0.0,"self_endowment_contribution":0.0,"citer_contribution":0.0,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":13,"citer_count":0,"citers_with_citation_signal":0,"citers_with_endowment":0,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":0.8276,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2021-01-01","fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":756894,"name":"John Blackwood","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":756895,"name":"T Pribýl","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":314483,"name":"Leda Bassit","orcid":"0000-0001-9894-5587","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":402297,"name":"Anuradha Rao","orcid":"0000-0001-6600-0677","position":4,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":756449,"name":"Morgan Greenleaf","orcid":"0000-0003-1569-5696","position":5,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":226170,"name":"Filipp Frank","orcid":"0000-0001-8680-2757","position":6,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":337554,"name":"Wilbur A.
