The paper proposes a new spontaneous EEG classification method for attention-related tasks. NMF was employed as feature extraction tool, which leads to more localized and sparse features than other two reference methods: power spectrum method and principal component analysis. With conventional back propagation neural network classifier, several experiments were carried out. It was showed that the NMF-ANN structure preserved the spatio-temporal characteristics of EEG signals.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":1.791759469228055,"endowment":1.791759469228055,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"17282821","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2133030781","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":0.6792,"citation_percentile":0.67575914,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"http://xplorestaging.ieee.org/ielx5/10755/33900/01617052.pdf?arnumber=1617052","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1109/iembs.2005.1617052","host_type":""},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/17282821","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Blind Source Separation Techniques","EEG and Brain-Computer Interfaces","Neural Networks and Applications"],"mesh_terms":[],"keywords":["Non-negative matrix factorization","Pattern recognition (psychology)","Matrix decomposition","Feature extraction","Artificial intelligence","Computer science","Principal component analysis","Classifier (UML)","Electroencephalography","Artificial neural network","Matrix (chemical analysis)","Speech recognition"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-06T17:17:42.819379Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
