Several studies on pupillary changes were carried out in order to study human emotions such as annoyance, stress, and reactions when viewing pleasant or unpleasant images, or seeing exciting products. A person's emotions can also be detected from pupil diameter when solving math problems using samples or independently. In medical field, pupil diameter can also be used to support doctor's decision for early detection of diabetes. The steps to measure pupil diameter include eye detection, pupil detection, and pupil diameter measurement. This paper discusses several eye detection methods, pupil detection methods and pupil diameter measurements using image processing algorithms. This paper also conducted an experiment by measuring pupil diameter using a simple method.
