Cystatin C might be a better alternative to serum creatinine in assessing renal graft function. We compared several cystatin C-based equations with the modification diet renal disease (MDRD) equation in 120 adult renal transplant recipients for whom the GFR was measured by the gold standard inulin clearance. Mean inulin-measured GFR was 52.6 mL/min/1.73 m\n                      <jats:sup>2</jats:sup>\n                      (range, 13-119). The Hoek, Rule, Le Bricon, and Filler cystatin C-based formulas showed significantly better performances (accuracy 30% of 82%, 81%, 78%, and 71%), than the MDRD equation (58%, Mac Nemar test,\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">P</jats:italic>\n                      <0.01). Sensitivity to detect a GFR below 60 mL/min/1.73 m\n                      <jats:sup>2</jats:sup>\n                      was significantly higher for the Hoek and the Rule equations (0.95, 95% CI 0.91-1) than for the MDRD equation (0.76, 95% CI 0.67-0.85). These data confirm that cystatin C as a GFR marker offers significant advantages over creatinine in renal transplantation.\n                    </jats:p>\n                  </jats:sec>","journal":"Transplantation","year":2008,"id":25897,"datarank":3.5552615791036364,"base_score":3.912023005428146,"endowment":3.912023005428146,"self_citation_contribution":0.586803450814222,"citation_network_contribution":2.9684581282894142,"self_endowment_contribution":0.586803450814222,"citer_contribution":2.9684581282894142,"corpus_percentile":null,"corpus_rank":null,"citation_count":49,"citer_count":46,"citers_with_citation_signal":41,"citers_with_endowment":41,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":false,"is_dataset_confidence":null,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":false,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":null,"fair_score":null,"fair_percentile":null,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":151194,"name":"Christophe Mariat","orcid":null,"position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151195,"name":"Christine Bonneau","orcid":null,"position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151196,"name":"Manolie Mehdi","orcid":null,"position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151197,"name":"Lise Thibaudin","orcid":null,"position":4,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151198,"name":"Silvy Laporte","orcid":null,"position":5,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":127324,"name":"Eric Alamartine","orcid":null,"position":6,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151199,"name":"Annette Chamson","orcid":null,"position":7,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151200,"name":"François Berthoux","orcid":null,"position":8,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":151193,"name":"Nicolas Maillard","orcid":null,"position":0,"is_corresponding":false}],"reference_count":0,"raw_metadata":{"has_enrichment":true,"base_score":3.912023005428146,"endowment":3.912023005428146,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"18580481","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2064815289","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":3.9644,"citation_percentile":0.9386914,"influential_citations":1,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":7},{"year":2013,"count":2},{"year":2014,"count":2},{"year":2015,"count":7},{"year":2016,"count":2},{"year":2017,"count":1},{"year":2018,"count":2},{"year":2022,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":2},{"year":2026,"count":1}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1097/tp.0b013e3181744225","host_type":"BRONZE"},{"url":"https://journals.lww.com/00007890-200806270-00026","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/18580481","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://ujm.hal.science/ujm-00440032","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Chronic Kidney Disease and Diabetes","Dialysis and Renal Disease Management","Organ Donation and Transplantation","Medicine","Adult","Aged","Biomarkers","Creatinine","Cystatin C","Cystatins","Female","Glomerular Filtration Rate","Humans","Inulin","Kidney","Kidney Function Tests","Kidney Transplantation","Male","Middle Aged","Models, Biological","Predictive Value of Tests"],"mesh_terms":["Adult","Aged","Creatinine","Female","Glomerular Filtration Rate","Humans","Inulin","Kidney","Kidney Function Tests","Male","Middle Aged","Models, Biological","Predictive Value of Tests","Biomarkers","Cystatins","Kidney Transplantation","Cystatin C"],"keywords":["Renal function","Cystatin C","Urology","Transplantation","Medicine","Filtration (mathematics)","Internal medicine","Mathematics","Statistics"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-06-08T09:16:47.236401Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
