Each cell line contains an insertional mutation in a specific gene. The identity of the gene that has been interrupted can be determined from a DNA sequence tag. Approximately 75% of our cell lines contain insertional mutations in known mouse genes or genes that share strong sequence similarities with genes that have been identified in other organisms. These cell lines readily transmit the mutation to the germline of mice and many mutant lines of mice have already been generated from this resource. BayGenomics provides facile access to our entire database, including sequence tags for each mutant ES cell line, through the World Wide Web. Investigators can browse our resource, search for specific entries, download any portion of our database and BLAST sequences of interest against our entire set of cell line sequence tags. They can then obtain the mutant ES cell line for the purpose of generating knockout mice.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":5.497168225293202,"endowment":5.497168225293202,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"12520002","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2105830710","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NCRR NIH HHS","grant_id":"P41 RR001081","title":null},{"funder_name":"NHLBI NIH HHS","grant_id":"U01 HL066621","title":null},{"funder_name":"NCRR NIH HHS","grant_id":"P41 RR01081","title":null},{"funder_name":"NHLBI NIH HHS","grant_id":"U01 HL66621","title":null}],"total_grants":4,"fwci":6.3928,"citation_percentile":0.97647005,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":17},{"year":2013,"count":12},{"year":2014,"count":15},{"year":2015,"count":6},{"year":2016,"count":1},{"year":2017,"count":6},{"year":2018,"count":4},{"year":2019,"count":9},{"year":2020,"count":5},{"year":2021,"count":6},{"year":2022,"count":1},{"year":2023,"count":1},{"year":2024,"count":5},{"year":2025,"count":2}],"oa_status":"bronze","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://academic.oup.com/nar/article-pdf/31/1/278/7126830/gkg064.pdf","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://academic.oup.com/nar/article-pdf/31/1/278/7126830/gkg064.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"http://academic.oup.com/nar/article-pdf/31/1/278/7126830/gkg064.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1093/nar/gkg064","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/12520002","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/165511","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["CRISPR and Genetic Engineering","Animal Genetics and Reproduction","Pluripotent Stem Cells Research","Animals","Cell Line","Databases, Nucleic Acid","Embryo, Mammalian","Genomics","Internet","Mice","Mice, Knockout","Mutagenesis, Insertional","Mutation","Stem Cells","User-Computer Interface"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Cell Line","Embryo, Mammalian","Mutation","Stem Cells","User-Computer Interface","Mutagenesis, Insertional","Mice, Knockout","Internet","Genomics","Databases, Nucleic Acid","Mice"],"keywords":["Biology","Gene","Mutant","Genetics","Germline","Embryonic stem cell","Insertional mutagenesis","Mutation","Sequence analysis","Stem cell"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-28T07:59:09.765530Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
