{"doi":"10.1093/nar/gkab1009","title":"AMDB: a database of animal gut microbial communities with manually curated metadata","abstract":"Variations in gut microbiota can be explained by animal host characteristics, including host phylogeny and diet. However, there are currently no databases that allow for easy exploration of the relationship between gut microbiota and diverse animal hosts. The Animal Microbiome Database (AMDB) is the first database to provide taxonomic profiles of the gut microbiota in various animal species. AMDB contains 2530 amplicon data from 34 projects with manually curated metadata. The total data represent 467 animal species and contain 10 478 bacterial taxa. This novel database provides information regarding gut microbiota structures and the distribution of gut bacteria in animals, with an easy-to-use interface. Interactive visualizations are also available, enabling effective investigation of the relationship between the gut microbiota and animal hosts. AMDB will contribute to a better understanding of the gut microbiota of animals. AMDB is publicly available without login requirements at http://leb.snu.ac.kr/amdb.","journal":"Nucleic Acids Research","year":2021,"id":12500,"datarank":1.2154499960987015,"base_score":3.2188758248682006,"endowment":3.2188758248682006,"self_citation_contribution":0.48283137373023016,"citation_network_contribution":0.7326186223684713,"self_endowment_contribution":0.48283137373023016,"citer_contribution":0.7326186223684713,"corpus_percentile":83.13607178773111,"corpus_rank":2181,"citation_count":24,"citer_count":24,"citers_with_citation_signal":21,"citers_with_endowment":21,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"is_dataset":true,"is_dataset_confidence":0.9553,"is_data_producer":false,"deposit_databanks":null,"is_oa":true,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"has_version_chain":false,"published_date":"2021-11-08","fair_score":50.0,"fair_percentile":62.702537450321,"algorithm_id":"datarank_citation_only_1hop_v6","ranking_scope":"data_only","authors":[{"id":98289,"name":"Jong‐Hyun Park","orcid":"0000-0002-2918-1867","position":1,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":98290,"name":"Yeonjae Jung","orcid":"0000-0002-7022-4152","position":2,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":27571,"name":"Jongsik Chun","orcid":"0000-0003-3385-5171","position":3,"is_corresponding":false},{"id":98288,"name":"Jun-Won Yang","orcid":"0000-0002-9814-6918","position":0,"is_corresponding":true}],"reference_count":61,"raw_metadata":null,"created_at":"2026-03-01T18:20:47.508186Z","pmid":"34747470","pmcid":"PMC8728277","fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":"gold","license":"cc-by","views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":61.1111,"fair_a":75.0,"fair_i":40.0,"fair_r":25.0,"fair_zscore":0.6155,"fair_rationale":{"fair_score":50.0,"has_llm":true,"taxonomy_version":"fair_taxonomy_v5","dimensions":{"F":{"name":"Findable","score":61.11,"criteria":[{"key":"f_dataset_pid","label":"Persistent identifier for the data","kind":"llm","weight":2.0,"fraction":0.5,"verdict":"partial","evidence":"http://leb.snu.ac.kr/amdb","grounded":true,"rationale":"The paper provides a web address, not a PID-scheme identifier.","anchors":["RDA-F1-01D — FAIR Data Maturity Model: 'Data is identified by a persistent identifier' (priorit","RDA-F1-02D — FAIR Data Maturity Model: 'Data is identified by a globally unique identifier'","FsF-F1-02D — F-UJI/FAIRsFAIR: 'Data is assigned a persistent identifier'"],"scored":true,"signal":null},{"key":"f_repository_named","label":"Named repository","kind":"llm","weight":2.0,"fraction":0.5,"verdict":"partial","evidence":"AMDB is freely available at http://leb.snu.ac.kr/amdb .","grounded":true,"rationale":"The host is a lab website, not a curated repository.","anchors":["RDA-F4-01M — FAIR Data Maturity Model: metadata is offered so it can be harvested and indexed (","NIH DMS Policy Element 4 (NOT-OD-21-014) — name the repository where data will be archived","NSTC Desirable Characteristics of Data Repositories (2022) — 'Long-Term Sustainability', 'Reten"],"scored":true,"signal":null},{"key":"f_data_availability_statement","label":"Data-availability statement","kind":"llm","weight":2.0,"fraction":0.5,"verdict":"partial","evidence":"AMDB is freely available at http://leb.snu.ac.kr/amdb .","grounded":true,"rationale":"The statement points to a URL, not a repository record with an accession or DOI.","anchors":["Colavizza, Hrynaszkiewicz, Staden, Whitaker & McGillivray (2020), 'The citation advantage of li","Springer Nature research data policy — Data Availability Statements: standard statement templat","RDA-F3-01M — metadata clearly and explicitly includes the identifier of the data it describes"],"scored":false,"signal":null},{"key":"f_discovery_metadata","label":"Description of the dataset as an object","kind":"llm","weight":2.0,"fraction":1.0,"verdict":"yes","evidence":"Table 1 summarizes the statistics of AMDB.","grounded":true,"rationale":"The paper includes Table 1, which provides an itemized inventory of the dataset's variables (samples, projects, features, reads, taxa, hosts).
