METHOD: Data for this study were drawn from a study of young child trauma and consisted of 62 traumatized children, 23 months through 6 years of age. The children's mothers were interviewed about PTSD symptoms and then completed the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL). RESULTS: The modified CBCL-PTSD correlated highly with the number of PTSD symptoms from the interview (r = 0.66). The CBCL-PTSD scale predicted PTSD symptoms above and beyond the internalizing and externalizing scales of the CBCL. A cutoff score of nine on this scale possessed the best sensitivity and specificity in classifying those traumatized children who met diagnostic criteria for PTSD. CONCLUSION: The modified CBCL-PTSD scale could be a useful cost-effective tool to screen for PTSD in traumatized, preschool-age children.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":4.61512051684126,"endowment":4.61512051684126,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"16606629","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2133019152","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":2.3818,"citation_percentile":0.88568817,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":6},{"year":2013,"count":6},{"year":2014,"count":2},{"year":2015,"count":1},{"year":2016,"count":7},{"year":2017,"count":16},{"year":2018,"count":5},{"year":2019,"count":6},{"year":2020,"count":5},{"year":2021,"count":5},{"year":2022,"count":2},{"year":2023,"count":4},{"year":2024,"count":4}],"oa_status":"closed","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"http://academic.oup.com/jpepsy/article-pdf/31/4/431/2734837/jsj006.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1093/jpepsy/jsj006","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16606629","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.561.5080","host_type":""},{"url":"http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.599.5700","host_type":""}],"fields_of_study":["Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Research","Child Abuse and Trauma","Child and Adolescent Psychosocial and Emotional Development","Child","Child Behavior","Child, Preschool","Humans","Mass Screening","Mothers","Observer Variation","Stress Disorders, Post-Traumatic","Surveys and Questionnaires"],"mesh_terms":["Child","Child Behavior","Child, Preschool","Humans","Mass Screening","Mothers","Surveys and Questionnaires","Stress Disorders, Post-Traumatic","Observer Variation"],"keywords":["Posttraumatic stress","Checklist","Psychology","Child Behavior Checklist","Poison control","Psychometrics","Clinical psychology","Injury prevention","Suicide prevention","Developmental psychology","Medicine","Medical emergency"],"sdg_mappings":[{"sdg_number":0,"sdg_label":"Good health and well-being"}],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-27T17:47:35.517258Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
