{"doi":"10.1093/infdis/jiaa181","title":"Hepatitis C Virus in Pregnancy: Are We Ready for Test and Treat?","abstract":"One of the most significant consequences of the opioid epidemic is the increased prevalence of hepatitis C virus (HCV) among pregnant women, which carries the risk of perinatal transmission. This increased prevalence of HCV in pregnant women and children, along with the recent advent of directacting antivirals (DAAs), calls for the reevaluation of HCV management during pregnancy. In this article, we describe current HCV epidemiology, the most recent understanding of the interactions of HCV infection and pregnancy, and the current management of HCV in pregnant women and their children.
