HRQoL is a health-focused quality of life (QOL) concept that encompasses aspects of QOL that affect health such as function, physical, and emotional health. Examining existing theoretical constructs and indicators of HRQoL among LTSS recipients led us to posit a revised conceptual framework for studying HRQoL among LTSS recipients. We adapted the Wilson and Cleary HRQoL model by expanding function to specifically include cognition, adding behavior and LTSS environmental characteristics in order to create a more robust HRQoL conceptual framework for older adults receiving LTSS. This refined conceptual model allows for the measurement of a mix of structural, process, and outcome measures. Continued development of a multidimensional conceptual framework with specific HRQoL measures that account for the unique characteristics of older adults receiving LTSS will contribute significantly to LTSS research, policy, and planning efforts.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":4.787491742782046,"endowment":4.787491742782046,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"22859435","pmcid":"PMC3695648","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2102076258","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NINR NIH HHS","grant_id":"P30 NR005043","title":null},{"funder_name":"NIA NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 AG025524","title":null},{"funder_name":"NINR NIH HHS","grant_id":"P30NR05043","title":null}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":10.1336,"citation_percentile":0.9809276,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2013,"count":4},{"year":2014,"count":6},{"year":2015,"count":7},{"year":2016,"count":5},{"year":2017,"count":9},{"year":2018,"count":4},{"year":2019,"count":7},{"year":2020,"count":12},{"year":2021,"count":10},{"year":2022,"count":10},{"year":2023,"count":9},{"year":2024,"count":24},{"year":2025,"count":9},{"year":2026,"count":3}],"oa_status":"green","license":null,"oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/3695648","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/3695648","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://academic.oup.com/gerontologist/article-pdf/53/2/205/19444070/gns093.pdf","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1093/geront/gns093","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22859435","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://europepmc.org/articles/PMC3695648","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Geriatric Care and Nursing Homes","Dementia and Cognitive Impairment Research","Health disparities and outcomes","Activities of Daily Living","Adult","Aged","Aged, 80 and over","Health Status","Humans","Long-Term Care","Models, Theoretical","Quality of Life","Residence Characteristics","Social Support","Surveys and Questionnaires"],"mesh_terms":["Activities of Daily Living","Adult","Aged","Aged, 80 and over","Health Status","Humans","Long-Term Care","Models, Theoretical","Quality of Life","Surveys and Questionnaires","Residence Characteristics","Social Support"],"keywords":["Gerontology","Quality of life (healthcare)","Conceptual framework","Construct (python library)","Conceptual model","Health related quality of life","Cognition","Psychology","Affect (linguistics)","The Conceptual Framework","Applied psychology","Long-term care","Medicine","Computer science","Sociology","Disease","Psychiatry"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-07-27T15:41:39.568903Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
