Second waves of Midlife in United Status (MIDUS) and its sub-project data, National Study of Daily Experiences (NSDE), were used (N=1,622, Obs=10,201). Multinomial multilevel model was used for analysis. The results showed that people who experienced stress the previous day were more likely to both give and receive emotional support and more likely to receive support the next day compared to those who did not experience any stress the previous day. Within the same day, people who had stress were more likely to exchange giving and receiving emotional support, to give emotional support, and to receive emotional support during the same day compared to those who did not have any stress.
