{"doi":"10.1093/gerona/glac036","title":"Waste Not, Want Not: Proper Design, Analysis, and Interpretation Are Essential to Advancing Aging Research Across the Translational Science Spectrum","abstract":"Rigor and reproducibility in aging and senescence research depend on sound study design, statistical analysis, and data interpretation. Stated bluntly, proper methodology is needed to correctly answer research questions. Inappropriate design, methods, and interpretation can systematically lead to false or inappropriate conclusions, wasted resources, distorted research priorities, and delayed therapy discovery (1). Recently, Chusyd et al. (2) delineated a set of unforced errors in aging and senescence research along with recommendations on how to avoid them to maintain rigor, reproducibility, and transparency. Herein, we endorse and build on the authors’ recommendations, with focus on internal and external validity, multiple comparisons, and analytical nuances.
