{"doi":"10.1093/biolre/ioab151","title":"Exploring the role of nongenetic inheritance in the etiology of human disease","abstract":"We are happy to announce this special issue of Biology of Reproduction focusing on a question of growing interest not just for the reproductive biology community, but also for toxicology and public health—the heritable impact of toxicants and other environmental factors and exposures on germ cells. The articles derive from the presenters and corpus of research presented at the Beyond Genes conference, an event held online across six sessions in October, November, and December of 2020 and featuring 44 speakers and more than 600 attendees. The lockdowns of the Covid-19 pandemic may have scuttled in-person conferences, but in our case, they provided the opportunity for a streamlined and cost-effective gathering of researchers active in this important emerging field while offering the virtual material to a wider audience.
