Analysis of gene phylogenies and conserved syntenies shows that the zebrafish gene currently called wnt11 (ENSDARG00000004256, ZFIN ID: ZDB-GENE-990603-12) is not the ortholog of the human gene called WNT11 (ENSG00000085741); instead, the gene currently called wnt11r (ENSDARG00000014796, ZFIN ID: ZDB-GENE-980526-249) is the zebrafish ortholog of human WNT11. Genomic analysis of Wnt11-family genes suggests a model for the birth of Wnt11-family gene ohnologs in genome duplication events, provides a mechanism for the death of a Wnt11-family ohnolog in mammals after they diverged from birds, and suggests revised nomenclature to better connect teleost disease models to human biology.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":2.70805020110221,"endowment":2.70805020110221,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"31295059","pmcid":"PMC6765064","openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W2960406956","authors":[],"funders":[{"funder_name":"NIDCD NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 DC015488","title":null},{"funder_name":"NIGMS NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 GM085318","title":null},{"funder_name":"NIH HHS","grant_id":"R01 OD011116","title":null}],"total_grants":3,"fwci":0.6819,"citation_percentile":0.67293621,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2019,"count":1},{"year":2021,"count":3},{"year":2022,"count":5},{"year":2023,"count":3},{"year":2024,"count":1},{"year":2026,"count":1}],"oa_status":"green","license":"https://www.liebertpub.com/nv/resources-tools/text-and-data-mining-policy/121/","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/6765064","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/6765064","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/full-xml/10.1089/zeb.2019.1760","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/pdf/10.1089/zeb.2019.1760","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1089/zeb.2019.1760","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31295059","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["Wnt/β-catenin signaling in development and cancer","Congenital heart defects research","Cancer-related gene regulation"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Biological Evolution","Multigene Family","Humans","Terminology as Topic","Vertebrates","Genome","Synteny","Wnt Proteins"],"keywords":["Biology","Zebrafish","Gene nomenclature","Gene family","Gene","Gene duplication","Genetics","Vertebrate","Genome","Human genome","Nomenclature","Evolutionary biology","Computational biology","Taxonomy (biology)","Zoology","Wnt11","Conserved Synteny","Wnt signaling","Whole-genome Duplication","Ohnolog","Wnt11r"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-18T17:55:40.253124Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
