{"doi":"10.1089/gtmb.2019.0066","title":"Gene Expression of the Circulating Long Noncoding RNA\n                    <i>H19</i>\n                    and\n                    <i>HOTAIR</i>\n                    in Egyptian Colorectal Cancer Patients","abstract":"<jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Background:</jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      HOX transcript antisense RNA (\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">HOTAIR</jats:italic>\n                      ) and\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">H19</jats:italic>\n                      are two long noncoding RNAs that play vital functions in the development of colorectal cancer (CRC).\n                    </jats:p>\n                  </jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Subjects and Methods:</jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      The expression level of\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">HOTAIR</jats:italic>\n                      and\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">H19</jats:italic>\n                      in the sera samples of Egyptian CRC patients along with normal controls was evaluated by quantitative real-time PCR. The possible correlations with the biochemical and clinicopathological characteristics were determined.\n                    </jats:p>\n                  </jats:sec>\n                  <jats:sec>\n                    <jats:title>Results:</jats:title>\n                    <jats:p>\n                      The expression of\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">HOTAIR</jats:italic>\n                      and\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">H19</jats:italic>\n                      showed 7.55- and 11.38-fold increased levels, respectively, in CRC patients compared to the controls (\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">p</jats:italic>\n                       &lt; 0.001). Furthermore,\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">HOTAIR</jats:italic>\n                      expression in CRC patients with regional lymph node metastasis was significantly higher when compared with CRC patients without regional lymph node metastasis (\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">p</jats:italic>\n                       = 0.034).\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">HOTAIR</jats:italic>\n                      and\n                      <jats:italic toggle=\"yes\">H19</jats:italic>\n                      expression showed no significant correlation with tumor site or carcinoembryonic antigen concentration.
