Checkpoint machineries can also initiate pathways leading to apoptosis and the removal of a damaged cell from a tissue. The balance between cell cycle arrest and damage repair on one hand and the initiation of cell death, on the other hand, could determine if cellular or DNA damage is compatible with cell survival or requires cell elimination by apoptosis. Defects in these processes may lead to hypersensitivity to cellular stress, and susceptibility to DNA damage, genomic defects, and resistance to apoptosis, which characterize cancer cells. In this article, we have noted recent studies of DNA damage-dependent cell cycle checkpoints, which may be significant in preventing genomic instability.","is_dataset_classified":null,"base_score":5.0369526024136295,"endowment":5.0369526024136295,"datacite_reuse_total":0,"file_count":0,"downloads":0,"views":0,"has_version_chain":false,"is_dataset":false,"is_oa":false,"pmid":"16848682","pmcid":null,"openalex_id":"https://openalex.org/W1996366132","authors":[],"funders":[],"total_grants":0,"fwci":4.4518,"citation_percentile":0.95259762,"influential_citations":0,"citation_trend":[{"year":2012,"count":7},{"year":2013,"count":10},{"year":2014,"count":10},{"year":2015,"count":9},{"year":2016,"count":12},{"year":2017,"count":3},{"year":2018,"count":11},{"year":2019,"count":8},{"year":2020,"count":11},{"year":2021,"count":9},{"year":2022,"count":5},{"year":2023,"count":6},{"year":2024,"count":5},{"year":2025,"count":1},{"year":2026,"count":2}],"oa_status":"green","license":"cc-by-nc-nd","oa_locations":[{"url":"https://repo.qst.go.jp/records/44772","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"https://repo.qst.go.jp/records/44772","host_type":"repository"},{"url":"http://www.liebertpub.com/doi/pdf/10.1089/dna.2006.25.406","host_type":"publisher"},{"url":"https://doi.org/10.1089/dna.2006.25.406","host_type":"journal"},{"url":"https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16848682","host_type":"repository"}],"fields_of_study":["DNA Repair Mechanisms","Carcinogens and Genotoxicity Assessment","Cancer-related Molecular Pathways","Animals","Apoptosis","Cell Cycle","Cell Cycle Proteins","Cell Survival","DNA Damage","DNA Repair","Genes, cdc","Genomic Instability","Humans","Neoplasms","Signal Transduction"],"mesh_terms":["Animals","Cell Cycle","Cell Survival","DNA Damage","DNA Repair","Humans","Neoplasms","Signal Transduction","Apoptosis","Cell Cycle Proteins","Genes, cdc","Genomic Instability"],"keywords":["DNA damage","Biology","Genome instability","DNA repair","Cell cycle checkpoint","Cell cycle","Cell biology","CHEK1","G2-M DNA damage checkpoint","Apoptosis","Cell","DNA","Genetics"],"sdg_mappings":[],"linked_datasets":[],"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"database_accessions":[],"source":"live","citation_network_status":"fetched"},"created_at":"2026-08-17T18:20:59.381061Z","pmid":null,"pmcid":null,"fwci":null,"citation_percentile":null,"influential_citations":0,"oa_status":null,"license":null,"views":0,"total_file_size_bytes":0,"version_count":0,"fair_f":null,"fair_a":null,"fair_i":null,"fair_r":null,"fair_zscore":null,"fair_rationale":null,"fair_model":null,"fair_agent_version":null,"fair_fulltext_source":null,"fair_has_llm":null,"fair_computed_at":null,"clinical_trials":[],"software_tools":[],"db_accessions":[],"linked_datasets":[],"topics":[]}
